Christians have a responsibility to God and His great commission:……..

“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matt 28:19-20)

A building will not survive if the foundations are weak, hence the need to ensure we have a clear understanding or foundation of true Christianity upon which God can build.

As is His way, although you may not be aware of it, God is calling you aside for a purpose that has Eternal consequences for your soul; whether you respond or not, the choice is yours to make. God, having created man in His own image, gave us the faculty of free choice. He invites us to partake of salvation, but He doesn’t force anyone. Whether you choose Life or death is up to you, but the consequences of course are totally different as the following text highlights;

If you are genuinely in need of God's love, and you are here seeking answers, then please take time to quietly meditate on the following which we commend to you:

“Come let us reason together” Says the Lord,
“Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool. If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land; But if you refuse and rebel, you shall be devoured by the sword”,
For the mouth of the Lord has spoken. (Isa 1:18-20)

God wants it clearly understood, not all who claim to be so, are necessarily true Christians. There has always been and there remain today, many cults & false religions serving a false Christ under a false gospel, whose adherents are sadly deceived into believing they are Christian, and we pray that God will draw them to the truth that can set them free from deceptive spirits.  Many scripture texts warn of false teachers and false doctrines designed to deceive the unwary.

Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron (1 Tim 4: 1-2)
"Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. (Matt 7: 15)
Hypocrisy and deception is alive and well and the guilty will have to face God’s judgment in time.
So, In order to bring clarity & avoid confusion, we have compiled a biblical profile of a “Christian”, but unlike any other word in the English language, because of corruption, we cannot build or express this profile in just a few words; In order to arrive at a biblical definition, as opposed to the religious/worldly definition, we need to expand our knowledge first.

Secular dictionary definition of a Christian:
“A religious person who believes Jesus is the Christ and who is a member of a Christian denomination”
This is a patently inadequate, simplistic and inaccurate definition of a Christian. No true, born again believer could accept this definition as accurate . After reading the following compilation of biblical facts, you will have a clearer understanding of what we mean.

Even the demons know and recognize Christ, so simply believing or knowing who He is does not a Christian make;
Now there was a man in their synagogue with an unclean (demon) spirit. And he cried out, saying, "Let us alone! What have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth? Did You come to destroy us? I know who You are--the Holy One of God!" But Jesus rebuked him, saying, "Be quiet, and come out of him!" And when the unclean spirit had convulsed him and cried out with a loud voice, he came out of him. (Mark 1: 23-26)

Who is a Christian?

Based on our understanding of the scriptures, we offer the following as contributing to a biblical definition of Christian:

A Christian is a person who in accordance with Paul's gospel, believes and confesses by faith that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior, and who having committed their life to Him and repented of all sin, is born again of the spirit and justified before God on the basis of Christ's sacrificial blood offering and believe in their heart that God raised Him from the dead. As a result, the Christian is indwelt and sealed by God's Holy Spirit, saved from the penalty of sin by God's Grace through faith, and destined to spend eternity in the presence of the Lord.

At a mere glance, it is obvious just how inaccurate is man's attempt to define the Christian.
Nowhere in the Scriptures is it a requirement that a person be religious or belong to a Christian denomination to qualify as a Christian, as opposed to what man would have you believe.

The bible reveals that true Christians will be known by the spiritual fruit observable in their lives.
You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thorn bushes or figs from thistles? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. (Matt 7: 16-17)

These are the attitudes, and behavioral traits that should be manifest in the life of a true Christian:
Love, joy, peace, long suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness & self control. (Gal 5: 22-23)
As opposed to works of the flesh & the ungodly;

…...adultery, fornication, uncleanness, licentiousness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfishness, dissensions, heresies, envy, murder, drunkenness, revelries (Gal 5: 19-21)

Question: What separates Christianity from all other faiths?

Answer: Four primary things denote the difference: (evidence is not limited to these) 1) Creation 2) The gospel of Christ 3) The bible & the historical accuracy of every prophetic scripture therein, and 4) God's personal relationship with His followers through His son. No other faith claims that their god created the universe and all that there is therein. No other faith or religion can claim that their god came down from heaven, took on earthly form in order to sacrifice his life, that through his shed blood, the sins of all mankind would be forgiven, if they would but believe. Jesus Christ stands alone, as the only Son of God who paid the penalty for the sins of man, that all who believe could be set free from the penalty due.

As for bible prophecy, there is simply no argument that the accuracy of multible hundreds of prophecies set before us, not only has no equal anywhere, but could not have been authored by anyone but God Almighty Himself.
God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. (John 3: 16)
Thus says God the Lord; Who created the heavens and stretched them out, Who spread forth the earth and that which comes from it, Who gives breath to the people who walk on it;...... Behold the former things have come to pass, and new things I declare; Before they spring forth I tell you of them.( Isa 42: 5, 9)

A true Christian believes (In accordance with the bible):

    • That if you confesses with your mouth the Lord Jesus Christ, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
    • There is ONE GOD in three persons; the FATHER, SON, and the HOLY SPIRIT and is the same yesterday, today and forever......Unchanging.
    • That the Bible is the inerrant infallible Word of God
    • In Heaven, Hell and Satan (Lucifer) the Father of all lies, and enemy of God and all believers
    • The Heavens and the Earth were created by God in a literal 6x24 hr days in accordance with the genesis record.
    • That all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God
    • Salvation is only available through faith in Jesus Christ alone.
    • That testing and trials are designed by God to build character and strength.
Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. (James 1: 12)
    • Christ died on the cross once, for all who would believe, as Jesus Himself said while he hung on the cross: “It is finished” (John 19:30)
    • Christ arose on the third day and ascended into Heaven to sit at the right hand of God the Father, where He remains, interceding for the saints until His return
    • The saints of God are all born again believers. The Roman Catholic Church doctrine re the appointment of Saints is unbiblical heresy. There are many references in the new testament to the saints of God (believers) such as: To the church of God....to those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all who in every place call on the name of Jesus Christ our Lord... (1 Cor 1: 2)
    • Water baptism is not essential to salvation, but is encouraged. It should be sought as it points to the commitment and obedience of the believer.
    • Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2: 38)
    • A Christian water baptism (greek; “baptizo”) involves full body immersion. Infant baptism/ splashing of water is not biblical and forms no part of God's gift of salvation.
    • The Christian church is not made up of bricks & mortar buildings. The Lord's reference to His church is a reference to the body of born again believers, indwelt and empowered by the Holy spirit:“For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them” (Matt 18: 20)
    • That Christians are not perfect, they are just forgiven.
    • They are unworthy, but is of no consequence, as all fall short of the glory of God. But there is one (Jesus) who stands in their place and calls them His own and wraps a robe of perfect righteousness around them because of their belief. They exalt in the Savior and triumph in His finished work on their behalf. He is their great righteousness and nobody and nothing can snatch them from His arms.
    • Good works play no part in Salvation. It is God's free gift by His grace through faith in His Son Jesus Christ for His finished work on the cross. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. (Eph 2:8-9)

We could keep going, highlighting many more core beliefs of the true Christian, but we believe those listed will help you better understand and identify true Christian faith, and helps to reinforce the inadequacy of man's attempt to define a Christian or the Body of Christ, His church

Some clarification

So there can be no confusion. We said earlier that the Christian Church is not made up of Bricks and mortar buildings. This is not to deny that true Christians don't gather together in man made buildings, as places of fellowship and worship. There are many thousands of such fellowships around the world, where the saints gather to honor their Lord & Savior. The building happens to be a meeting house only.
But, contrary to what secular society and religious denominations would have you believe, these buildings are not 'The Church'. To re-emphasize the point, the true church, (which Christ said He would build, and the gates of Hell would not prevail against), resides in the hearts of His saints, (all true believers) and it is this fact which the World has largely missed or ignored throughout history.

“And I also say to you........I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it” (Matt 16:18)
Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? (1 Cor 6: 19)

As we draw this to a close, maybe now, you can appreciate how inadequate man's definition of “Christian” really is, and understand that it has nothing whatsoever to do with religion.

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world. (1Jn 4: 1-3)

Finally, the Christian accepts the bible as the word of God which is given to all as His instruction for living, to which of course the Christian has a responsibility to be faithful and obedient.

“ All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness....” (2 Tim 3:16)
